Internet Rechartering

Internet Rechartering is a Web-based method for units to renew their charters from any online location such as the office, home, or public library. It's easy, convenient, and accurate because you enter the information yourself!

A representative of your unit can now complete the paperwork for renewing a charter online. From Internet Rechartering, you can indicate returning members, add new members, and update information for an individual or the chartered organization.

How to Use The Program

Each unit will receive an access code at roundtable or from their unit commissioner at least  60 days prior to their charter expiration date. The unit selects an adult to complete the online process. This "Renewal Processor (RP)" uses the access code to log onto the Internet Rechartering Web site, selecting whether to start the process with current ScoutNet data, or data from unit-management software. At anytime, the RP can suspend the electronic rechartering process and return later to the last complete screen.

The Unit Charter Renewal System (UCRS) lets you delete members not returning, enter new members, renew current members, and update information for any registrant. When completed, the new unit roster is submitted electronically to the council registration department and a Unit Charter Renewal Report Package is printed. This package includes the unit charter application. The unit will acquire the proper signatures for the charter application and deliver it to their unit commissioner, district recharter day or District Executive (see below for your location), along with the rest of the package (download materials below), all new youth and adult applications, and all fees.

Steps to Renew a Charter Online

  1. Sixty days before your unit's expiration date, select an adult Renewal Processor (RP).
  2. The renewal processor receives the unit access code via a post card sent to the Committee Chairman and the Cubmaster, Scoutmaster or Venture Advisor.
  3. Thirty days before the unit's expiration date, the RP clicks "Recharter Now" and begins the process.
  4. When the online process is completed, the RP prints the completed charter renewal application and all other related materials - see below.
  5. The unit leader and the chartered organization representative sign the charter renewal application. Bring the application along with the materials you printed from below (such as the Centennial Quality Unit application), and all appropriate fees to your district's charter turn-in meeting - listed below. Note: * denotes required item to renew charter.

Note: If your unit is "short or long chartering" to move your month to the district recharter month, you will need to calculate the additional fees manually as the UCRS is limited to a twelve month charter cycle. Simply follow the UCRS process print the final charter renewal application and manually recalculate.
