The NYLT course is an inspiring program designed to provide youth with communication, planning, and interpersonal skills and experience that they can use in their home units and in other life situations demanding leadership of themselves and others. Participants will be engaged in an outdoors leadership training experience led by their own Boy Scout peers.

NYLT centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what he must KNOW, and what he must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.

Through classes, games and outdoor activities, participants will learn and practice:

 Communication Skills

 Goal Setting

 Planning

 Problem Solving

 Decision Making

 Conflict Resolution

Participants learn to use the Leading EDGE and the Teaching EDGE (Explain - Demonstrate - Guide - Enable) by working with their patrols in an exciting and challenging outdoor environment. The course goal is to prepare young men and women to become superior leaders in their troop, crew, district, council, and other organizations they belong to now, and in the future.
