2013 Philmont Reservations - the Connecticut Rivers Council way (no more lottery . . . guaranteed reservations)!

Tired of being on the Philmont waiting list? Want to make guaranteed reservations so you can plan ahead for your older Scouts? Here’s an opportunity for your troop to catch a ride with the Connecticut Rivers Council’s annual Philmont Expedition. Read on. . . . . . .
Each year in September the council makes reservations for a Philmont Expedition nearly two years in advance. We already have a reservation for 5 crews (maximum 60 people) for a contingent trip in 2013.
It is anticipated that the date of departure from Bradley International Airport will be Saturday, June 29, arrival at Philmont on Monday, July 1 and return to Connecticut on Saturday, July 13, 2012. Interested? Read more. . . . . .
Here’s the scoop and criteria:
- Spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. Scouts and Scouters will need to meet certain physical and age requirements to participate. - Age Requirements for Participation – Philmont participants for 2013 must be 14 years of age OR completed the eighth (8th) grade and be a least 13 years of age. No exceptions!
- A unit may reserve up to two crews (24 spaces) as desired with a $100 per person, non-refundable deposit.
- Adult unit leadership will be required (maximum 5 per crew of 12) and become part of the planning group for the trip.
- Each crew must have at least one adult trained in Wilderness First Aid.
- The unit MUST have attended Summer Camp at one of Connecticut Rivers Council’s camps within the last 2 years, or will attend CRC Summer Camp in 2013.
- The unit must participate in Family Friends of Scouting or the Popcorn Sale.
- The unit may not reserve Connecticut Rivers Council Contingent spaces in consecutive years.
