These camps are open to all Scouts who have earned First Class rank. These fun-filled weeks allow Scouts to concentrate on those sometimes “hard to get” Eagle-required merit badges. All Scouts are placed in a “Trail to Eagle” troop at camp and work together as a troop, attending merit badge sessions and participating in other fun-filled camp programs.

There are two ways a Unit Rappellers can now earn a 17 rappel for a Boy Scout (or Venturer) as part of Over the Edge II on September 29th at the Connecticut River Plaza. To qualify a unit must have an individual by either raising at least $1000 and be the unit that raises the most money for your district or raising $2500 as an individual

Have a fun day of aviation activities and advancements and then sleep among historic aircraft at the New England Air Museum on May 19-20. For the first time ever the Connecticut Air Museum is opening its doors to the Connecticut Rivers Council. Take this opportunity to have fun and learn amid some of the coolest antique aircraft and automobiles that you can encounter.

Camp Nautical is an opportunity for any Sea Scout attending to gain skills and experience. Advancement can be a source of pride and measure of your success in Scouting. Advancement in Sea Scouting is a measure of your nautical knowledge and your performance as a leader.

Help us test the Summit! This is an exciting opportunity for youth and adults to be among the first to camp at the Summit Bechtel Reserve and to play an important role in the final planning process for the 2013 National Scout Jamboree. Registrations are now open for Boy Scouts and Venturers interested in attending.

Webelos Scouts have their own resident camp to attend. Make sure you send your Webelos Scouts to the best camp for them!

Connecticut Rivers Council will again offer a BSA BB●gun and Range Master Orientation course for all individuals who will be acting as BB●gun range officers at a Cub Scout day camp or resident camp.

PADI Scuba: full week long Open Water Certification. All participants must be in good health and provide a PADI required medical history and informed consent form. There is no minimum age requirement, but participants need to not only be strong swimmers.

Scouts enrolling for Citizenship Day will have the opportunity to earn two of the following Merit Badges: Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, and Communications.

Provides Scouts the opportunity to come together under a formal program to learn, experience, share, and grow in appreciation of the shooting sports. The camp themes offered in the program are designed for discovery. They provide exposure to the many different activities available in shooting sports and offer campers the opportunity to explore them in a safe, controlled environment.

A “Survivor” themed program awaits Scouts who will work on Wilderness Survival merit badge and practice basic skills of Leave No Trace. Scouts will spend the weekend at Colonial Outpost.

It is never too late for a unit to sign up to attend one of our three Boy Scout camps next summer. Just log on to the council website to complete a reservation. As of the end of October 139 troops have made a commitment to attend a Connecticut Rivers camp next summer. According to our records, there are about another two dozen of our units that always attend and have not yet made a reservation.

Nearly 70 rappellers took a Giant Step for Scouting on September 9 at the Connecticut River Plaza in Hartford, Connecticut. These daredevils raised funds for Scouting as their friends donated to see if they would rappel 17 Stories. Includes photo links and next year's registration link.
